Cecilia Vidal

I am Cecilia Vidal, 19 years of age and on my 3rd year of studying in college, taking up Bachelor of Elementary Education at Divine Word College of Calapan. I'm the second eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Vidal. I belong to native Mangyans of Oriental Mindoro. I,m one and the eldest scholar of Coco Beach Company since I graduated from elementary. When I reached college I started to work at Coco Beach Resort every vacation, semestral break and Christmas break for salary as waitress. It improved my communication skills because as you will know I'm a little bit shy girl. Coco Beach sent me to catholic school since I was high school till now. I choose to take Bachelor of Elementary Education just because I love children and aside from that there is lacking of of teachers in the school that I've studied when I was Elementary I thought that I can be one of teacher teaching on that school someday. I hate Mathematics, I'm not fun of numbers. I love literature I'm of reading fictions, myths, legends, fairy tales and any other twist stories except horror. I have six siblings. 4 are studying while the two are not. My father is a farmer and my mother is just a plain house wife. We are happy but not a perfect family. My family gives me courage and they serve as my inspiration.

Update 23-04-2015

It is with pride and thanks to announce that we finally have our very first college graduate. Graduation rites was last March 27th (2015), held at their school campus (Divine Word College) in Calapan and asked Belen to attend and take pictures. She is still have to take the Board Exams scheduled this coming June or July so she will be considered a Full-pledged Teacher and I have already had her enrolled for the ‘Review Classes” that is required before she takes the board. But even then, we have a law here in the Philippines that if one is a ‘minority’, they already are given a passing grade though they are still asked to do it for formality.

Update 23-04-2015

I have decided to drop him out of the scholarship program. His grades are really bad and he has one failed subject that has to be retaken if he opts to study this coming school year. I told his mother that if Reniel wants to be in again, he has to prove first that he will do better and take the schooling seriously. As mentioned to both of them and the whole family, the grades might have been reconsidered because maybe his intellectual capacity is not much, but the deciding factor that he be dropped is because of his absences. When asked, the mother and sister said that they all thought he was in school since he also leaves the house in the morning but he goes somewhere.. The mother also confirmed that she has been called to talk with the school principal almost every month because of that. For now, it will be the mother or family to spend for his schooling if the decide to enroll him and they can show me the grades after one school term. If it has improved, then we can reconsider to have him back in the program.

Update 23-04-2015

This coming school year, he will be on his 4th year (Bachelor of Secondary Education) though he has to take up some summer classes on subjects he was not able to take during regular school terms. His grades has greatly improved after he got a warning last year because grades was so low and he was told that if it will not improve, he will be dropped out of the program. He took that seriously since the grades went sky rocket high. If everything goes okay, he will be our second college graduate.
